Strategic Plan

This strategic plan was developed by a group of Chamber directors.  Its purpose was to reassess the Parke County Chamber of Commerce mission and set a direction for the accomplishment of that mission.  Adopted at the July 2003 business meeting, it is the responsibility of every Chamber member to assist in fulfilling the Chamber's mission.

Mission Statement:

Quality Service

These are Parke County Chamber of Commerce Core Values…the heart of all that we are and do.  You can expect to see our board and staff consistently promote these values throughout our organization’s operation.  Values are meaningless without a common definition; therefore, here is a brief definition of our core values.

Integrity First in all we do.  Integrity encompasses truthfulness, honesty, loyalty, and courage…doing what’s right when nobody is looking.

Leadership By Example To Gain Results.  To accomplish our mission of uniting businesses, we must, as an organization, lead.  We acknowledge that leading by example is the most effective way to gain results and commit to this philosophy as an organization.

Professional competence is vitally important.  This value encompasses important traits such as work ethic, common sense, teamwork, desire to improve, pride, creativity, effective communication, persistence, and initiative.  We further define this value as maintaining standards, maintaining technical and knowledge-based competence, acting decisively in all situations, and the attentively listening to our customers.  We must hold these characteristics in high esteem to be the professional organization we desire to be.

Quality Service second to none.  In an era where most every organization can provide similar quality products, service makes the difference.  This value requires listening to our customers, responsiveness to a point of being solution oriented, providing the best possible service, and exceeding all expectations.  This attribute will separate us from being another organization in the community to being the organization in “the” community.

Innovation Through Creativity.  While we must value and learn from tradition and our past, it is critical that we find new ways to solve issues affecting our membership, find new ways to support our members, increase our membership with new members and raise operating funds all the while promoting our image in the community.  Embracing this value as an organization will increase our ability to succeed in all aspects of our mission.

Looking Forward.   It is a well known fact that those organizations without a vision will perish.  We must anticipate the future, plan actions to address the future, organize our membership for the future, and prepare and take action to meet the future.  Time does not stand still.  The business environment is changing philosophically and technologically and the Chamber must be prepared to assist our membership in meeting the challenges of the future.
