U.S. 41 Corridor
Lighting Project |
| |
|
The Indiana Department of Transportation has begun a $10 million project to widen and provide adequate
drainage for the stretch of US Highway 41 through Rockville. The State is installing curbs as well as widening
the current two-lane road to include a center turn lane. This project will extend from South of Rockville North
to the 4-H Fairgrounds. In addition, sidewalks will be installed on both sides of US 41 from the Beechwood Park
area North to Anderson Street, a distance of approximately 1 mile.
In order to enhance the look and function of this State project, private donations, grants, and gifts are being
raised to provide historic lighting along this soon to be renovated area. In general terms, costs to make this
historic lighting a reality are as follows:
Infrastructure $135,000
Lighting Fixtures $350,000
The Town of Rockville and Parke County REMC will provide all labor for the project. To date, more than $112,000
has been pledged for the infrastructure, and $18,000 for the lights themselves.
Your help is needed to make the lighting corridor a reality. Please contact the Parke County Community Foundation
for more information. They can be reached at (765) 569 - 7223.
