History Incorporated in December 1966, the Parke County Chamber of Commerce was originally known as the Rockville Chamber of Commerce, whose duties included "the advancement of civic, commercial, industrial and agricultural interest of the Town of Rockville, ... the promotion of the general welfare of said Town..." The incorporators were listed as George T. Myers, Austin K. Noblitt and Norval W. Dixon, Jr. and began with a value of $800.00 cash. Then, in June of 1985, the board of directors felt the need to expand the scope and direction of the Chamber with the hope of and commitment to expand the Chamber's service to the entire county. The Rockville Chamber of Commerce became the Parke County Chamber of Commerce. The Parke County Chamber of Commerce at one time was owner/operator of the historic Ritz Theatre. The Economic Development, Parke County Community Foundation, MainStreet/Rockville and the Adopt-A-Bridge program were all encompassed and in some form started in the offices of the Chamber. The Chamber's focus has grown. With a board of 9 representing all areas of business in the county, the Chamber strives to meet its new vision of "Uniting Business for Economic Growth and Vitality."
