Ten teams recently participated in the 9th annual Parke County Golf
Classic sponsored by the Parke County Chamber of Commerce at the Parke
County Golf Course at Rockville. The winning team from the First Financial
Bank had a 9 under par team score of 59. Members on the winning team
included: Alan Waldridge, Tom Mattox, Warren Johnson and Brian Johnson.
The team was awarded four donated passes to the Rocky Ridge Golf Course
near Darlington that were arranged by Overpeck Gas Company.
The Old National Bank team of Debbie Skelton, Russ Campbell, Eric
Nicholas and Chris Marsolf were the runner-ups with an 8 under score of
60. In third place with a 7 under score of 61 were the team of Brad
Bumgardner, Tim Clary, Kyle Jacks and Kevin Jacks from the Parke County
Community Foundation. Fourth place went to the Fifth Third Bank team of
Tom Zimmerman, Joe Martin, Jerry Monts and Dick Wallace with a 6 under
score of 62. Ferguson Chiropractic Center took fifth place with a 2 under
score of 66 with team members Dr. Jon Ferguson, Larry McLaughlin, Eric
Losin and Jim Swinehart.
Other teams participating in the scramble format event were from Child
Adult Resource Services (C.A.R.S.), G & M Ace Hardware, Parke County REMC,
Russell & Durr, CPA’s and the Chamber of Commerce.
Winning the putting contest and receiving a cash award was Jerry Monts
from the Fifth Third Bank team. Monts generously donated half of his
winnings back to the Chamber. Other putting contest finalists were: Rick
Parent, Brad Bumgardner, Tom Zimmerman, Warren Johnson, Joe Martin, Jim
Swinehart, Leighton Britton, Tom Mattox, Alan Waldridge, Tim Clary, Russ
Campbell and Dr. Jon Ferguson.
Additional contest winners were: Longest Drive – Josh Thome won an
Indiana flag and $50 given by State representative Nancy Michael; Closest
to the Pin – Mark Nolin won a $25 gift certificate provided by G & M Ace
Hardware and Russ Campbell won the Longest Putt competition and was
awarded a gift certificate to Beef & Boards for two provided by Crossroads
Communications.
The 17 hole sponsors for the Golf Classic included: First Financial

Altstadt Office City, Wright Implement and Dale Warnick Chevrolet.
Jacks & Jacks Motors sponsored the hole-in-one car award which Terry
White from the C.A.R.S. team came the closest to winning with his ball
hitting about a foot from the pin. Overpeck Gas donated the boxes of Top
Flight XL golf balls for the “hit the green” winners as follows: Brad
Bumgardner, Kevin Jacks, Warren Johnson, Tom Mattox, Gary Nicola, Eric
Losin and Dick Wallace.

Country Home Catering served the noon luncheon and Sellers Sign Art
