Ten teams recently participated in the 8th annual Parke County Golf Classic sponsored by
the Parke County Chamber of Commerce at the Parke County Golf Course at Rockville. The
winning team from the Parke County Community Foundation had a 14 under par team score
of 54. Members on the winning team included: Brad Bumgardner, Tim Clary, Kyle Jacks and
Kevin Jacks. The team was awarded four donated passes to the Rocky Ridge Golf Course near
Darlington that were arranged by Overpeck Gas Company.
The Fifth Third Bank team of Tom Zimmerman, Joe Martin, Tom Mattox and Glen McClain
were the runner-ups with an 8 under score of 60. In third place with a 5 under score of 63
were the team of Jim Bosley, John O’Neal, Ron Wheeler and Brian Johnson from First Financial
Bank. Fourth place went to the Hayn Construction team of Gary Hayn, Robert Lenover, Jarred
Wrightsman and Jake Hayn with a 4 under score of 64. Ferguson Chiropractic Center took fifth
place with a 3 under score of 65 with team members Dr. Jon Ferguson, Alex Milligan, Eric Losin and
Jim Swinehart.
Other teams participating in the scramble format event were from Child Adult Resource
Services (C.A.R.S.), G & M Ace Hardware, Parke County REMC, Old National Bank
and the Chamber of Commerce.
Winning the putting contest and receiving a cash award was Ron Wheeler from the First Financial
Bank team. Other putting contest finalists were: Brian Johnson, Eric Losin, Joe Martin, Raymond
French, Jim Swinehart, Jarred Wrightsman, Jake Hayn, and Alex Milligan .
Additional contest winners were: Longest Drive - Brad Bumgardner won a gift certificate
provided by G & M Ace Hardware; Closest to the Pin - Joe Martin won a gift certificate provided by
G & M Ace Hardware and Dan Overpeck won the Longest Putt competition and was awarded a
gift certificate to Beef & Boards for two provided by Crossroads Communications.
The 18 hole sponsors for the Golf Classic included: First Financial Bank, Spencer & Associates
CPA’s, Ferguson Chiropractic Center, Turkey Run Inn, Branson Insurance & Bonds, Parke Co.
REMC, Rockville Nursing & Rehab Center, G & M Variety, Parke Co. Community Foundation,

Solutions LLP, Xpress Mart/Valero, Altstadt Office City, Hayn Construction and Dale Warnick
Chevrolet.
Jacks & Jacks Motors sponsored the hole-in-one car award which Kyle Jacks came the
closest to winning with his ball glancing off the pin on the drive. Ironically he was ineligible to win
the award due to his family relationship and sponsorship rules. Overpeck Gas donated the boxes of
Nike golf balls for the “hit the green” winners as follows: Kyle Jacks, Brad Bumgardner, Brian
Johnson and Joe Martin.
Donors of door prizes included: Old National Bank, Scott Pet Products, C.A.R.S., Fifth Third
Bank, Eli Lilly-Clinton Labs, Edward Jones - Rockville & Clinton, Dale Warnick Chevrolet, The

Parke County Emergency Management and the Rockville Nursing and Rehab Center. The $100
grand door prize award from Xpress Mart Valero was won by CARS team member Basil Weinman.
Country Home Catering served the noon luncheon and Sellers Sign Art provided the signage for
the team photos.
