The 2008 Parke County
Parke County Chamber of Commerce Annual Meeting was held on January 24, 2008.
The Women of the Year, the Man of the Year, the Chamber Member of the Year and Organization
of the Year were awarded.

The Rockville Rotary Club and Parke County Chamber of Commerce co-hosted
the April Networking at Noon luncheon program at the new American Legion Building in
Rockville. Some 75 members and guests attended the meeting that featured a talk
by Gerry Dick who is the creator and host of the television show, Inside Indiana
Business. The Parke County Community Foundation sponsored the program.

The Parke County Chamber of Commerce collected 302 pounds of food and
needed household dry goods during their recently completed annual food
drive for the Parke County Food Pantry. Shown receiving the donated
items on the left is Food Pantry director Connie Norman along with (L-R)
Chamber Executive Director Diana Ader; Chamber president Kristin Clary
from the County Redevelopment Office and Derek Smith from REMC. Not
shown, but also helping collect and unload the ten donation boxes that
were in community businesses were Steve Cvengros, county prosecutor and
Delores Soyack from the First Financial Bank.

The All-American Little Miss and Mister Contest sponsored by the Chamber was held
at the Parke County 4-H Fair. Here is the photo of the winners of the Little Miss & Mister

The program for the September Networking @ Noon was presented by Lt. Governor Becky Skillman.
The meeting was held on September 10th at the new American Legion building. The meeting
was a joint meeting of the Parke County Chamber and the Rockville Rotary Club.

The 52nd Annual Parke County Covered Bridge Festival was held from October
10 - 19, 2008. The Parke County Chamber of Commerce sold cobbler on the Parke County
Courthouse Square in Rockville. The Chamber of Commerce would like to thank everyone who
volunteered to work in the shack.

The 2008 Meet the County Candidates Night was sponsored by the Parke County Chamber of
Commerce. The meeting was held on October 23rd at the Ritz Theater.
Candidates running for county offices in Parke County; candidates running for state representative
whose districts include all or part of Parke County and U.S. congressional candidates
whose district includes Parke County attended the meeting.

The Parke County Chamber of Commerce held a ribbon cutting for
the new Tin Roof Bakery Café on US 36 across from the Ritz Theater in
downtown Rockville.
